single_tdPn single_tdPnParticipant::So — have been messing about with this thing for about five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a mate asked me the other day. Am based in the UK, mostly do football and horses, a fiver here and there, so take it how you like.
How I found it was genuinely pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever get my head round what an e/w return actually was when the place terms changed. Basically I’d guess and moan when the payout landed. Now I punch the numbers in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator tool is the one I’m on daily — type in the price and your stake and you get returns instantly, either odds format. There’s also the fiddly ones — acca and treble maths, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where I always lose track. If you want a look, it’s over at dutch calculator — free, no signup.
The thing that actually made a difference was the geekier tools. They’ve got an probability converter and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly criterion tool — I use half kelly because full kelly is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool is handy too if I’m spreading across selections.
Not all sunshine though. The layout looks pretty plain — zero polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s usable although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. Also there’s nothing on the app store, just the site — slight shame but you asked.
Anyway. Free, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. If anyone even now works out returns on a calculator app, try it — saves me a fair few “wait, that’s it?” moments.

The reason I started using it was actually a bit daft — I could never work out what an e/w return actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in before every slip, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — type in your stake, the odds and you get the return instantly, either odds format. Same tool covers the multiples — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15s, yankees, honestly that’s where I always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at odds converter calculator — free, no signup.
One thing that actually shifted things for me were the geekier bits. There’s an probability calculator that shows how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly calculator — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one is handy too for when I’m covering two or three runners.
Couple of gripes. Its interface feels very functional, let’s say — no polish, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it works though the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. There’s nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me just flagging it.
So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, barely any ads, does the job. If you still does the maths on paper, give it a go — saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
