single_jjPn single_jjPnParticipant::So — been on this thing for something like a few months now and it’s stuck on my phone, reckon I’d say something since a mate asked me the other day. Am based in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.
What got me on it was actually pretty stupid — I never could get my head round what an e/w payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. Now I type the odds in first, every time, even the boring singles.
The single bet calculator is the part I use most — type in the price and your stake and it shows the return straight away, either odds format. There’s also the fiddly ones — trebles maths, a lucky 15, a yankee, honestly that’s where I’d always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it’s here back and lay calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.
The thing that genuinely shifted things for me were the nerdier bits. There’s an implied probability converter which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and there’s the kelly criterion tool — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator is decent if I’m covering two or three runners.
Not all sunshine though. The interface feels a bit basic — not much frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s usable though the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. And nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — fine by me but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Free, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone still does the maths on paper, have a look — saves me plenty of arguments with the bookie.

What got me on it was honestly embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an ew return actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I’d eyeball it and get a shock. Now type the odds in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the bit I use most — you put in your stake, the odds and it shows returns straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here implied probability calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.
The thing that actually shifted things for me were the nerdier extras. They’ve got an implied probability thing which shows you what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly criterion tool — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit if I’m splitting a race.
Couple of gripes. Its design feels very functional, let’s say — zero flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it works but the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. And no app, it’s browser only — slight shame just flagging it.
Anyway. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does what it says. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — it’s saved me plenty of “wait, that’s it?” moments.
