So — have been messing about with this thing for something like five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so figured I’d write something up since someone asked me last week. I’m UK based, generally stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, so take it how you like.
How I found it was genuinely embarrassing — I couldn’t ever figure out what an each way return actually came to when the place terms changed. I’d just eyeball it and moan when the payout landed. Now punch the numbers in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the one I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and you get returns with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — acca and treble returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, and that’s where I always lose track. The thing that genuinely made a difference were the nerdier tools. There’s an odds-to-probability calculator which shows you what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly criterion calculator — I stick to fractional kelly since full stakes are a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit when I’m splitting a race.
Not all sunshine though. Its layout looks very functional, let’s say — zero frills, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it’s usable although the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. And no proper app, just the site — slight shame just flagging it.
Right, that’s me. Doesn’t cost anything, barely any ads, works. Anyone who honestly works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
