single_lxPn single_lxPnParticipant::So — been using this thing for about four months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d write something up since a mate asked me a few days back. Am UK based, generally bet football and racing, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.
What got me on it was actually a bit daft — I could never figure out what an e/w return would be once you get five places instead of three. I used to just guess and get a shock. Now I type the odds in first, every time, even the boring singles.
Their single bet calculator is the bit I use most — you drop in stake and odds and it shows the return with no faffing, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, yankees, which is where I’d always got it wrong. If you want a look, it’s here each way dutching calculator — free, no signup.
One thing that genuinely changed how I bet was the more serious extras. They’ve got an probability converter and it makes obvious how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit when I’m splitting a race.
It’s not perfect mind. Its layout looks very functional, let’s say — zero frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s fine although the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. And nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me but worth saying.
Anyway. Doesn’t cost anything, not plastered in adverts, works. If anyone honestly does the maths on paper, have a look — saves me a load of arguments with the bookie.
